Dance is an expression of who we are an affirmative statement of life. Haitian dance plays a vital role in our lives, either through kompa or traditional dances. Haitian culture, history and dance derived from our African ancestors when brought to the Caribbean island as slave. Over the years the people of Haiti used dance rituals as a way to eradicate negative forces brought by invaders.
